Big Sandy Junior High School

Wow, what an awesome start to the new school year.  I am looking forward to continued success as our students at the JH become more familiar with the routine of school.  With all the construction going on everywhere, the start of the year was about as smooth as it could possibly have been.  Thank you to our wonderful parents, community members, students, and faculty and staff for working together to cause such a great beginning. 

As our students get assimilated in school, the faculty at the JH will do whatever we can to help each kid reach his/her potential.  Our motto is:  “High Expectations For All”.  We are going to raise the bar of expectations for all students as well as ourselves.  I expect a lot from myself, the teachers, and students---our teachers do the same.  We hope and will work towards creating this climate for each student that graces the doors of the JH.  We want our students to have those same high expectations for themselves. 

Our academic goal this year is to be “Recognized”.  We will not accept anything less.  With this goal, our teachers are going to stretch each student academically as the year progresses.  The students will be benchmark tested to make sure the students are grasping the objectives.  If there are gaps, remediation will take place until the objective is mastered. 

I am looking forward to watching our students perform in athletics, band, theatre, FFA, UIL events, and model UN.  We are expecting a great year with each of the extra-curricular events. 

I do apologize for the inconvenience of the construction and for having to park away from the entrance when needing to visit.  If you would like to visit with me or have questions or concerns please feel free to contact the office and set an appointment, or drop by.  I will be glad, as always, to visit with you. 

We do not take educating your child lightly.  Each kid has the ability to learn and improve wherever they are academically, behaviorally, or socially.
