Rushing Signs with Clarendon College

Jenna Rushing was recently offered a scholarship to play volleyball for the Lady Bulldogs of Clarendon College.  She attended a tryout with 19 other athletes and was chosen for the team.  Jenna and her parents attended the tryout and met Coach Kelcie Newton and teammates of Clarendon who were pleased with Jenna and the skill she showed throughout this year. 

Jenna has played four years on the varsity team at Big Sandy.  She has filled the position of our middle hitter/blocker.  Jenna has participated in our summer league program and attended many camps during the season to improve her abilities. 

During Jenna’s freshman year she was awarded Honorable Mention, during her sophomore year she was First Team All District, her junior year she was the MVP Blocker, and her senior year she was the MVP Hitter.  Jenna has had recognition on the All-East Texas Team, and she is an alternate on the State All-Star Team. She was also on the All-State Academic Team and she was the All-state team’s co-captain this year.

Jenna is also involved in our track program.  She is one of our high jumpers and is a part of the relay team, which went to State her freshman year.  She is also a cheerleader and the captain of the cheer team.  Jenna shows character by being a leader and carrying out her responsibilities to the end.  She is a team player, a friend, and a  volleyball role model for the younger girls involved in athletics.  She knows that attitude and effort in anything you do are the qualities needed to succeed.

I have had the privilege of knowing her parents,  Jim and Jana, who were always there supporting Jenna and her teammates.  Her dad helped with our summer league program, and also helped us with our scorebook at our games.  Jenna and her parents have been a big part of our volleyball program and family.   I wish Jenna the best of luck at Clarendon.
