Wednesday, February 4th proved to be an exciting day for Big Sandy High School's Ronny Chalk. Sitting next to his proud mother, Traci Green, Ronny signed a four year contract with Kansas Emporia State University with a full scholarship for both football and track.
Recruited by Emporia's Ken Gordon, Ronny will be an athlete on the university's football team and possibly run the open quarter for the track team.
Ronny is looking forward to spending the next four years in Kansas. "I'm very excited to get to experience the college life," he said. "It will be a completely new environment."
Big Sandy's students and administration are extremely proud of Ronny's athletic achievements. "Big Sandy High School is very proud of Ronny and his accomplishments," Principal Machelle Robbins said. "It takes much time, effort and dedication on his part. I know he will make Big Sandy proud."
Ronny's recognitions and awards include being an All East Texas Running Back 2008, 2 year All District Defensive Back, All District Running Back 2008 and All-Smoaky Team 2008. His senior year stats were 1,234 yards rushing, 14 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions.
