The Big Sandy Elementary Second graders worked on preparing a Wall of Honor for our First Responders, particularly the firefighters who have worked so hard to protect our state. They collected as many names and their departments as they could to add to our Wall. We would all like to say thank you for your hard work during this time.

Bi District Champs
A group of 3 seniors with a lot of potential
led the Ladycats to Bi District champs: Kayln Brisby, Bryse Mullins, and
Hailee Sigler. These fine young ladies started back in the 1st of
August, planning to go to the playoffs as they began a new Ladycats
tradition with their htr slogan. Winning second in the Big Sandy
tournament, and consolation in the Van tournament, they ended up 9/3 in
their district and an overall record of 20/9. They played 2a/3a/4a
schools to better themselves. The Ladycats made lots of memories during
practices and during travel to and from schools, leaving a mark of pride
and tradition for our school each step of the way. The seniors are
leaving behind two juniors: Jessica White and Hannah South, four
sophomores: Sabrah Shipman, Deanna Blood, Melea Roberts, and Terry
Caldwell, 2 freshmen: Mikalya White and Porshe Thompson. Kalyn Brisby
was apart of the Ladycat volleyball team for 4 years, went to playoffs
all 4 years, middle hitter/blocker. Bryse Mullins was apart of the
Ladycat volleyball team for 3 years, also went to playoffs all 3 years,
outside hitter/def. player. Hailee Sigler was apart of the program for 4
years, she was the libero for 3 years and her senior year was moved to
an all around player to benefit the team.
In the first round of playoffs, we faced the Carlisle Indian Maidens and
won 3 games 25/21, 25/18, and 25/10. These girls ended their season on
Nov. 3rd in Hughes Springs against the Avery Bulldogs, in a 2/3 game.
The girls gave everything they had winning the first and 3rd game, in
the 5th game tied at 14/14. The fight was there, and the last game for
the 2011 season ended 14/16.
