Congratulations to Valerie W. for her digital art piece entitled "Wildcats 2012." Her piece was selected by her classmates in 7th period as their favorite. The assignment was to create a collage that incorporated various activities from the Fall semester.

Congratulations to Jacob O. and Jacob K. on winning 3rd Place at State Tennis Championships in Austin.

Regional UIL

Congratulations to Big Sandy's regional UIL competitors. They competed this weekend at Stephen F. Austin State University in Ready Writing, Computer Applications, Literary Criticism, Poetry Reading, Feature Writing, and Social Studies.

Micah Gilbert brought home a bronze in Poetry Reading, and he will be representing Big Sandy at the STATE contest in Austin on May 21st and 22nd. The Literary Criticism team of Iris Hobma, Caleb Fisher, Dalton Wynn, and Hunter Denton placed 2nd overall, with Iris Hobma getting an individual 5th place award. Other team members included Chris Calder, Chelsea Tellechea, and Aaron Nolan.

Big Sandy High School Color Guard

Congratulations to the 2012-2013 Big Sandy HS Color Guard. Tryouts have concluded, and the following young ladies will be participating as line members next year: Anna Peterson (Captain), Rene Segler (Lieutenant), Katelyn Surber (Lieutenant), Victoria Donahue, Karina Moody, Jo Peterson, Justice Snider, Jackie Burson, Skylar Martin, and Haley Cain. The color guard will perform at all football games and compete at the Yamboree and the VBM Kilgore Classic.

Congratulations Academic UIL

Congratulations are in order for the Big Sandy Academic UIL competitors. At this weekend's contest, we ranked 3rd overall, received numerous medals, and 9 of our students advanced to Regionals. Our regional competitors will be Caleb Fisher--1st in Ready Writing, Clay Caldwell--2nd in Current Issues, Chris Calder--3rd in Computer Applications, Aaron Nolan--3rd in Social Studies, Micah Gilbert--1st in Poetry, Chelsea Tellechea--2nd in Feature Writing, and the entire Lit Crit team placed 1st overall, with Dalton Wynn getting 1st, Iris Hobma--2nd, Hunter Denton--4th, and Caleb Fisher--6th.

Other medalists include Bradley Van Wert 4th in Accounting, Taylor Baxter, 6th in News Writing, Maddy Lane and Dalton Wynn were 4th and 5th in Persuasive, and John Caldwell and Domini High were 4th and 5th for Computer Applications.

One-Act Play Performance

Big Sandy High School will present scenes from All My Sons by Arthur Miller at 6:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Thursday, March 29th. We will perform the play twice. Admission is $3.00 at the door. Please come and support this fine cast!

Attention seniors and parents of seniors: we need the parents of seniors to send pictures with their child for senior video and please don't forget baby picture. Pictures are to be turned into Penny Snow. Also, we need parents to help with senior breakfast the morning of graduation. Seniors need to pay dues of forty dollars to help with expenses of senior trip.
